Lorde covers Tears for Fears for The Hunger Games soundtrack and everything is perfect.

I don’t think there’s a better artist to represent The Hunger Games musically than Lorde.  She’s a teenager and her music is undoubtedly on the dark, bleak side of pop music.  Her cover of Tears for Fears “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is no different, as she’s practically growling for the first half of the song.  The production is also typical of her music, with its minimalist melodic elements and thunderous percussion and bass.

I’ll admit the first half of the song is slow, but the second half literally catches fire.  Lorde finally opens up as the production opens up and the song builds to a cinematic, dramatic conclusion that you can just see perfectly fitting a scene from the movie.

As a side note, I feel that watching the second movie might be different after seeing Jennifer Lawrence all the time since the first movie.  She’s no longer just Katniss, for better or worse.
